Association "Novi put" Joins the Global Clearing Centre Network
Association "Novi put" has been admitted to the Global Clearing Centre network, an international initiative dedicated to combating the abuse of non-consensual intimate imagery and strengthening protection for victims of online sexual and gender-based violence. This membership represents significant recognition of Novi put's longstanding work in providing direct support to victims of all forms of violence and exploitation, while also marking an important step towards strengthening Bosnia and Herzegovina's capacity to respond to the growing challenges of digital violence.
The Global Clearing Centre is an innovative programme that brings together civil society organizations from around the world to enhance support and protection for victims of Non-Consensual Intimate Images (NCII). The programme is operated by SWGfL, with the support of the Government of the United Kingdom.
The Global Clearing Centre was established to provide victim support organizations with access to specialized tools, training, and international cooperation mechanisms that facilitate the faster identification and removal of NCII content from the internet. The programme relies on the StopNCII.org system, which uses digital fingerprinting ("hashing") technology to prevent the further distribution of intimate images and videos without the consent of the person depicted. Importantly, the images themselves are neither stored nor uploaded from the victim's device, ensuring an additional level of privacy and security for users.
NCII is one of the most common forms of technology-facilitated gender-based violence. It includes the sharing, or threat of sharing, intimate images and videos without a person's consent and increasingly involves synthetic or AI-generated intimate content, commonly referred to as "deepfake" images. Such abuse can have severe consequences for victims' mental health, safety, reputation, and social lives.
For many years, Association "Novi put" has been providing direct support to victims of gender-based violence, human trafficking, sexual exploitation, violence against children, and other human rights violations. Through our work, we are increasingly supporting individuals affected by online abuse, including the non-consensual sharing of intimate content, online blackmail, digital harassment, and the misuse of artificial intelligence to create fake intimate images.
Membership in the Global Clearing Centre network is a significant step in strengthening our capacity to assist victims and enables us to participate more actively in global efforts to remove harmful content from the internet. Through this cooperation, we will be able to provide additional technical assistance in identifying and removing NCII content, as well as facilitate access to international protection mechanisms.
We invite all individuals who were 18 years of age or older at the time the image and/or video was created and who have become victims of non-consensual intimate image sharing, threats to distribute intimate images or videos, or synthetic (AI-generated) intimate imagery to contact us. The professional team of Association "Novi put" provides confidential counselling, information on available protection mechanisms, and support throughout the content removal process.

As the first organization from Bosnia and Herzegovina to join the Global Clearing Centre network, Novi put will use the knowledge, expertise, and tools gained through this partnership to strengthen victim protection in our country and raise public awareness about the dangers and consequences of online sexual violence, including the misuse of artificial intelligence to create synthetic intimate content.
Together, we are building a safer digital environment and supporting survivors of online sexual and gender-based violence.
To end gender-based violence we need bold thinking, true accountability, and survivor’s voices
Abida Pehlic, GMMP coordinator for Central and Eastern Europe and Bosnia and Herzegovina, reflects on the 70th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70) where she was a member of the WACC/GMMP delegation.
This year, I had the privilege of being one of more than 4,600 civil society participants from across the world at CSW70. I felt both honoured and deeply responsible to bring the voice and experience of Bosnia and Herzegovina into this global space.
One of the highlights of my time at CSW70 was speaking at the side event “Justice and Ending Gender Violence in Offline and Digital Media,” organised by WACC and partners.
I participated in my capacity as the regional coordinator for Central and Eastern Europe within the Global Media Monitoring Project, where I had the opportunity to share key highlights from the latest GMMP findings for Europe. In particular, I focused on the persistent gaps in media coverage of gender-based violence, as well as the ways in which reporting often reinforces harmful stereotypes and victim-blaming narratives.

World Association of Christian Communications).
