Prevention of gender-based violence in HNC and WHC

Association "Novi put" is implementing the project "Prevention of gender-based violence in HNC and WHC" with the support of Embassy of USA to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The project aims to promote favorable social norms and attitudes to promote gender equality and prevent discrimination of and violence against women and result in achieving zero tolerance for GBV by involving Roma and non-Roma women, men, representatives of relevant GOs and NGOs, journalists, university students and general public.

The Global Media Monitoring Project (GMMP) is the world’s longest-running and most extensive research on gender in the news media. The research was
designed to capture a snapshot of gender on one “ordinary”’ news day in the world news media. An ordinary news day is defined as one in which the news agenda contains the run-of-the-mill mix of stories, everyday articles on politics, economy, social issues, crime and other issues.

Integrating a Child Rights-Based Approach in CSO Programming - A best practice report by the 2021 Child10 Awarded Members

We are pleased to present you a Report on best practices in programming for child victims of trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation  gathered best practice from the Child10 2021 Awarded Member Organizations working directly with child victims and children at risk of commercial sexual exploitation and trafficking throughout Europe – ASTRA (Serbia), eLiberare (Romania), Iroko Onlus (Italy and Nigeria), Novahuset (Sweden), Footprint to Freedom (Netherlands and East Africa), lightup International (Germany, Austria, Norway), Ellencentret (Sweden), Novi Put (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Marta Centre (Latvia) and VATRA (Albania).

Provision of direct psycho-social support to children and women victims of violence during and after the Covid-19 pandemic

The covid19 pandemic not only had a negative impact on the economic situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), but also caused a significant increase in cases of domestic violence, the victims of which are mostly women, but also children who are either primary or secondary victims of violence. As a result of this crisis, "Novi put" has faced a significant increase in the number of clients seeking urgent psycho-social counselling. The approved project aimed to:

  • raise awareness about the prevailing forms of violence committed against women and children during Covid-19 pandemic and how to prevent it through continuous online campaign;
  • increase the scope of work of the Counselling Centre of “Novi put” (CC) to provide free of charge services, psycho-social services to victims of violence; and
  • assist 10 socially vulnerable families with packages containing food and hygiene supplies, face masks and disinfectants.

Joint Call for Action to European Governments on 18 October by Child 10 Awarded Member Organisations

 "Today, on the EU Anti- Trafficking Day, Child10 and the 2021 Awarded Members demand compulsory educational modules for all children in all countries across Europe on trafficking and sexual exploitation of children online and offline, as well as on healthy relationships, children's understanding of sexual consent and equality between girls and boys. 

Association ”Novi put” received the Child 10 2021 Award

Association ”Novi put” received the Child 10 2021 Award and the award of HM Queen Silvia’s Foundation – Care About the Children for dedicated efforts to eradicate trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation of girls within and towards Europe. ”Novi put” was one of  ten organizations selected from over 90 nominations from 27 countries across the globe and the first NGO from BiH that has ever received these awards.

La Strada International NGO Platform Meeting kicked off in Amsterdam today

Today, La Strada International kicked off the NGO Platform Meeting in Amsterdam ??
The session "Shrinking Space and role of Civil Society in addressing trafficking in human beings" saw the on-line participation of Siobhán Mullally (UN Special Rapporteur on Trafficking in Persons), Evelyn Regner MEP (Chair of the FEMM Committee), Diane Schmitt (EU Anti-Trafficking Coordinator), Waltraud Heller (EU Fundamental Rights Agency) and the in-person presence of Petya Nestorova (Council of Europe).
The members and the Board will discuss achievements & future plans over the next two days. 

European Parliament's discussion on identification of children victims of trafficking for sexual exploitation in Europe

Recent European studies show an alarming increase in trafficking and sexual exploitation of children in Europe and the perpetrators are constantly finding new ways of exploiting children amplifying the cross-sectoral nature of human trafficking. The new EU Strategy on Combatting Trafficking in Human Beings 2021-2025 particularly highlights the importance of proactive early identification and cross-sectoral collaboration among frontline officers, such as border guards, police officers, social workers and civil society organizations, as well as the role of Internet service providers.

Her Excellency the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Johanna Stromquist, and the First Secretary of the Embassy of Sweden, Annelie Stiglund, visited the association "Novi put" today.
